Quick Recovery After
Balloon Sinuplasty

Because balloon sinuplasty is non-invasive with no stitches and no nasal packing, recovery is remarkably fast. Most patients return to normal activities within just 24–48 hours.

What to Expect

Understanding Your Recovery

Since the treatment is non-invasive with no stitches and no nasal packing, your balloon sinuplasty recovery should be quick. After your procedure, you will experience minimal discomfort and should follow easy-to-do post-procedure guidance.

Your nose may feel slightly numb for a few hours after your procedure as any local anesthetic applied during the procedure wears off. Despite this sensation, you will still be able to breathe and swallow normally.

  • Try not to blow your nose for the first 24–48 hours
  • Keep nasal passages moist with saline sprays and rinses several times a day
  • Some light bleeding may occur the first day after your procedure
  • If you need to sneeze, release it through your mouth
  • Resume activities within 48 hours
  • After one week, your sinuses will be 90% healed

No. Because balloon sinuplasty is performed under IV anesthesia, you will need a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you for the remainder of the day. You should not drive or operate heavy machinery for at least 24 hours after the procedure.
Light activity is typically fine within 24–48 hours. We generally recommend avoiding strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for about one week after the procedure to allow your sinuses to heal properly and minimize the risk of bleeding.
