Balloon Sinuplasty Procedure with Dr. Wassmuth

| Zachary D. Wassmuth, MD | Sinus & Nasal | Reviewed Mar 2026

Have you forgotten what it's like to breathe clearly? Do you suffer from chronic sinusitis, sinus infections, or other ongoing nasal passage issues? Despite trying medications and treatments, do you still experience constant, painful sinus problems? Balloon sinuplasty, one of Capital ENT and Sinus Center's most advanced procedures, could be the welcome and long-lasting solution you've been seeking.

Dr. Wassmuth's Expertise

Dr. Zachary Wassmuth was the first physician in Austin to perform a balloon sinuplasty procedure and has since completed over 10,000 nasal and sinus surgeries. His extensive experience means patients benefit from refined technique and consistently excellent outcomes.

How Balloon Sinuplasty Works

Balloon sinuplasty is a minimally invasive, in-office procedure that uses a small balloon catheter to gently open blocked sinus passages. Unlike traditional sinus surgery, there is no cutting of bone or tissue and no nasal packing. The balloon is inflated to reshape the sinus opening, restoring normal drainage, and then removed.

Is It Right for You?

You may be a good candidate for balloon sinuplasty if you experience:

  • Recurring sinus infections that don't respond to antibiotics
  • Chronic facial pressure, headaches, or congestion
  • Difficulty breathing through your nose due to sinus blockage

Most patients return to normal activities within 24 to 48 hours. To learn more about the procedure, visit our detailed balloon sinuplasty page or read our complete guide.
