- **Balloon Sinuplasty** — Minimally invasive, often in-office procedure that uses a small balloon catheter to open blocked sinus passages. No nasal packing; most patients recover within 24–48 hours. Capital ENT was first in Austin to offer it. Covered by most insurance.
- **Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)** — Outpatient surgery to remove blockages and treat chronic sinusitis or nasal polyps when medication isn't enough.
- **Septoplasty** — Corrects a deviated septum to improve breathing, using a packing-free technique for faster, more comfortable recovery.
- **Turbinate Reduction** — Minimally invasive reduction of enlarged turbinates to relieve chronic congestion and sinus pressure; often combined with other procedures.
- **Nasal Valve Repair (VivAer, LATERA)** — Treats nasal valve collapse, a common cause of obstruction that doesn't respond to medication.
- **ClariFix Cryotherapy & RhinAer** — In-office nerve treatments for chronic runny nose and congestion (chronic rhinitis).

- **Inspire Therapy** — Implanted device for moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea in patients who can't tolerate CPAP. Covered by most insurance for qualifying patients.
- **Snoring Treatment** — Procedures are matched to where the snoring comes from: injection snoreplasty or radiofrequency treatment for the soft palate, uvulectomy, tonsillectomy for large tonsils, nasal surgery, or UPPP. A sleep study is strongly recommended first to rule out sleep apnea.
- **Nasal Surgery for Sleep Apnea** — Septoplasty, turbinate reduction, nasal valve repair and sinus procedures, often combined in one session. Nasal surgery rarely cures sleep apnea by itself, but it improves nasal breathing, sleep quality and CPAP comfort. Patients keep using CPAP throughout healing.
- **Tonsillectomy & Adenoidectomy** — Modern outpatient techniques for recurrent tonsillitis or obstruction, in children and adults.
- **Allergy Testing & Immunotherapy** — In-house testing plus immunotherapy: allergy shots (subcutaneous immunotherapy) and custom sublingual allergy drops at a flat cost. Custom drops are an off-label use in the U.S.; the practice does not typically use sublingual tablets.

## Common questions

- **What is an otolaryngologist?** An otolaryngologist (ENT) is a physician and surgeon who diagnoses and treats conditions of the ears, nose, throat, sinuses, and related head and neck structures. All four Capital ENT physicians are board-certified otolaryngologists.
- **What's the difference between a sinus infection and chronic sinusitis?** A sinus infection (acute sinusitis) usually lasts under 4 weeks and is most often viral. Chronic sinusitis is diagnosed when symptoms persist 12 weeks or longer, or recur frequently — a lasting inflammation rather than a single passing infection.
- **When should I see an ENT?** Consider an ENT for nasal congestion or facial pressure that doesn't improve with medication, sinus infections lasting beyond ~10 days or recurring 4+ times a year, hearing loss, chronic sore throat or hoarseness, snoring or suspected sleep apnea, or ongoing dizziness.
- **Do I need a referral?** Most PPO plans allow self-referral to a specialist; some HMO plans require a referral from your primary care doctor.
